Mike Malone

I know Mike Malone through Arlee Leonard from Season 5. Arlee has lived and performed in music hot spots all over the States, so I wasn't surprised that she knew someone awesome. Mike's one of these multi-instrumental musicians that have played it all and seen it all, perhaps a place where artist meets craftsman. His vibe was the Blues meets motorcycles. He showed up from Long Beach in his chopper with thick leather boots and a jacket and settled himself in the boat with his harmonica.

That gruff badass biker exterior had a gold heart under it. It didn’t take us too long to feel like old friends. I have so many reasons to be thankful for this project and one is the extension of friendship and goodwill that extends across the country from one musician to another like Arlee did to Mike. They hadn't seen each other in years but Mike had a bunch of fond memories back when they were in the same town.

The sun had come out with a breeze and made the water sparkly. Mike pulled out his harmonica and jammed out some blues that I was sure glad didn't happen to me… and because they didn't, they made me smile instead. Instagram @jmikemalone
