Juliet Daniel with Jack Gravalis & Gerson Zaragoza

I met Juliet through the wonders of suggestive algorithms on the @tinyboatsessuon Instagram.  She had a style of genre that seemed different from a lot of tinyboatsessions so I floated out an invite and she said yes.  I was out at sea for the better part of the year and when I checked in the timing finally worked out.

She brought some of her band and we met by the Ballard Bridge on a one of those hot Seattle summer days where the heat of the day peaks at five.   Since many of us PNW folk don’t have AC everyone was feeling a bit heat crazy.  A cool evening row with a light breeze seemed like just what the doctor ordered.  She brought Jack on guitar and Gerson who had downsized from bass with a water bottle and a drumstick.

Half of Ballard's waterfront sits behind a set of locks to the salt water of the Puget Sound.  It’s protected and though full of many pleasure craft the area still has an industrial vibe with dozens more of tough looking boats.  Some look spit polish ready for action and others on the verge of rusty hulks—even a few sunken ships poke out of the surface.

For tinyboatsession that means all the compelling backgrounds we could choose from.  Each one that Juliet, Gerson and Jack found were more compelling than the next.

By the time we got back to the dock the sun had set but the twilight was still strong at this latitude. The heat of the day was gone and the energy of singing, playing, and pulling on the oars mellowed the madness of our hot summer day. @soundslikejuliet, @jackgravalis, @gersonmancan
