Halley Greg & Jonathan

I know Halley Greg… well it seems like I know Halley from a lot of different places. Back in Season 4 my buddy Jacob, an old ROTC comrade with my brother, had been following tinyboatsession and reached out to suggest a woman he went to university with. He said she’d been on The Voice. She liked the idea but wasn't able to do it herself at that time, However, she made a heap of introductions that became the core of Season 4.

Over the next few years I checked in every once in a while to see if the timing was right. This summer, Season 8, the final season of tinyboatsession we made it happen. Two weeks before I scheduled to do a tinyboatsession with Halley I did one with Madeline, Stefan and Shannon. A few days after that I saw Shannon post a story that she was singing with Halley. I had no idea they knew each other, but sure enough they were friends from high school and had even been roommates. Everybody knew everybody.

That’s been a pretty constant thing about living in Seattle. It thinks it's a big city, and in some it is, but so many times I am reminded that it still has a small town feel as the different circles of my life seem to intersect in unexpected and delightful ways. Halley brought her partner, Jonathan and we cruised down to one of my favorite spots. A bunch of derelict ships by the locks, a few of them sunk and sinking with some osprey nests and trees growing out of them and a faded blue and red paint with a patina of rust that lights up when the sun goes down in an absolutely beautiful manner. It feels like the set to a 1930s aquatic mystery set in technicolor.

They sang and played. We had some laughs, watched the birds and it was the kind of day that just made it all worth the wait. @halleygregmusic, @liviarts
